Are Treatment Recommendations Influenced by the Doctor's Specialization?
Read the abstract of a study examining the treatment recommendations between urologist and radiation oncologists for a cohort of 108 patients. Urologists 79% of the time recommended surgery and radiation oncologists recommended radiation 68% of the time. They agreed only for 30.6% of patients. Clearly, physicians are more likely to favor treatment aligned with their specialty. Further study is recommended on what factors patients consider after consulting different specialists. Click here
